Original French Napoleonic helmet plate for an infantry shako, with the regimental number 42.

This beautifully crafted brass plaque depicts Napoleon's classic imperial eagle, standing on a bed of laurel leaves. The carving of the regimental number 42 is typical of shakos from the Napoleonic campaigns and was worn by regular line infantry regiments.
