An American Air Force Cross from the post-World War II period in very good condition. This prestigious award was presented from 1960 onwards as the Air Force equivalent of the Distinguished Service Cross.
The Air Force Cross (AFC) is the second-highest military decoration within the United States Air Force and is awarded exclusively for extraordinary heroism that does not meet the criteria for the Medal of Honor.
The award was bestowed upon military personnel for:
- participation in action against an enemy of the United States;
- participation in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force;
- or serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing foreign force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.
