Boek : Vrouwenkorps van het voormalig Koninklijk Nederlands-Indisch leger 1943-1950

Hasenbos Militaria

Description

The KNIL Women's Corps was the first official women's military corps, established on March 5, 1944, by Lieutenant Governor General Dr. Van Mook by Government Decree No. 1 in Australia. The Women's Corps was an official component of the former Royal Netherlands East Indies Army. Members of the corps came from all parts of the world not occupied by the Germans and the Japanese: the West Indies, Canada, the United States, England, Argentina, Cuba, Australia, and, after the liberation of the southern Netherlands, from the Netherlands. As a result of the transfer of sovereignty of the Dutch East Indies, the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army was disbanded on July 26, 1950. This also meant that the KNIL Women's Corps was disbanded on that date. This book describes the origins and history of the KNIL Women's Corps. Scholarly publication. A historical overview of the origins of the women's military corps is also provided. The book is in used condition. Softcover 224 pages.
