Hasenbos Militaria
Description
Original French shako model 1860, worn by the National Guard during the Second Empire (1852–1870).
The shako is made of pressed leather and features the characteristic front emblem with an eagle and the number 4, belonging to a National Guard regiment. On top is the red double pompom, as used on parade or formal uniforms.
The original maker's mark is clearly visible on the inside:
“ME Spiquel & Cie – Équipements Militaires”,
a well-known Parisian manufacturer of military equipment in the 19th century.
