Description
Original Knight's Cross 2nd Class of the Herzoglich Sachsen-Ernestine House Order, instituted in 1890. This Knight's Cross was awarded by the Ernestine duchies and was considered a prestigious distinction for merit and loyal service.
The cross is made of silver, with white enameled arms and a central medallion bearing the effigy of Duke Ernst. The central medallion and the interior of the cross are traditionally gilded, as is customary with this type of award. The blue enameled ring bears the motto "Fideliter et Constanter." A green enameled laurel wreath surrounds the medallion. The entire piece is finished with a beautifully crafted crown with a suspension ring, characteristic of this class.
