Description
Antique French velvet theatre costume ca. 1940
Special and rare antique French theatre costume, consisting of a short jacket and knee-breeches, made of deep blue-green velvet with gold-coloured trimmings.
The costume is richly decorated with elegant cord closures at the front and refined finishes along the collar, sleeves, and hem. The breeches have characteristic buttons along the sides. Lined with silk/satin on the inside and fitted with a handwritten label.
The style is inspired by 18th/19th-century military (hussar/officer style), typical for theatre and opera.
