Description
Ordre des Palmes Académiques, Knight (Chevalier/3rd Class), dating from around 1900. This prestigious order was established by Napoleon in 1808 and awarded for exceptional achievements in education, science, and culture. It is made of silver and set with rhinestones/crystals.
Beautiful patina
Set consists of:
- Large medal with original purple ribbon and rosette
- Miniature medal (for evening or ceremonial use)
- With leather case
The Palmes Académiques are one of France's oldest surviving civilian awards. Complete sets from the 19th century, including miniatures and boxes, are rare to find.
