Antique French watch box ca. 1900 J. Auricoste Paris

Hasenbos Militaria

Description

Beautiful original antique pocket watch box, from the renowned Parisian watchmaker Auricoste. This luxurious case dates from around 1900 and was supplied with high-quality watches at the time.

The box is covered with black pressed leather and richly finished with refined gold-stamped decorations in the corners and along the edges. On the top, there is an elegant monogram "S.H.", indicating personalization for the original owner.

The interior is made of silk and velvet and bears the original gold imprint:
"Paris 1900 Médaille d’Or – Mon Thomas – Fondée en 1854 – J. Auricoste – Horloger de la Marine de l’État – 10 Rue de la Boétie – Paris"

"Horloger de la Marine de l’État" means that the maker (Auricoste) was an officially recognized supplier to the French navy. He supplied precision instruments such as chronometers and ship's clocks that were important for navigation. It indicates that the maker had a high reputation and quality.

Suitable for a small pocket watch of 27 mm. The box closes well and still has its original inner ring.

The box shows signs of use but is in good condition considering its age.

Dimensions: 63 x 83 mm
