Description
Beautifully executed gilded semi-miniature of the Austrian Order of the Iron Crown, with war decoration (laurel wreath).
The jewel depicts the imperial double-headed eagle with a central blue enameled shield and crown, richly detailed and executed in relief. The laurel wreath surrounding the central motif indicates recognition for military merit in wartime.
The badge is made of metal and gilded, as is typical of semi-miniatures from this period. It is suspended from the original ribbon in the correct colors (yellow with blue borders).
