Description
The Zeeland Battalion was one of the Dutch battalions that were established shortly after the liberation in 1944-1945 from:
- former members of the Internal Security Forces (BS)
- local resistance groups
- volunteers from the province of Zeeland
These battalions were later incorporated into the Dutch army, among other things for:
- guard duties after the liberation
- law enforcement
- later sometimes deployed in the Netherlands East Indies (depending on the battalion)
