Belgian Congo 50th anniversary

Hasenbos Militaria

Description

The medal for the 50th anniversary of the Belgian Congo was established in 1958 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the annexation of Congo by Belgium (1908-1958).

The honorary badge was awarded as a commemorative medal to those who had rendered special services in the colony.

The medal has a rectangular base shape. In the center is a five-pointed star with the Belgian coat of arms and the letters LBA (Leopoldville, Belgian Congo, Africa).

The whole hangs from a multi-coloured moiré ribbon with vertical stripes in blue, yellow, red and black, which bring together national and colonial symbolism.

In beautiful original condition.
