Hasenbos Militaria
Description
Original German winter fur hat (Pelzmütze) from World War II. This hat was part of standard winter equipment and was used by both the Wehrmacht (Heer) and the Waffen-SS during the cold months (September 15 to April 15).
The caps were issued annually to soldiers and non-commissioned officers and had to be returned after the winter season for storage, repair, and cleaning. There was no strict standard model, but the shape generally followed that of the mountain cap/M43 cap, with fold-down side panels to protect the ears and neck.
This example has the characteristic fur trim and strings on top to tie the flaps up when worn in an up position.
Marked on the inside but no longer legible, see last photo
In used condition with moth damage
