Description
The Silver Medal for Bravery for Austria, later of the dual monarchy Austria-Hungary, was a high wartime bravery award from 1789-1918.
The medal features on the obverse the portrait of Emperor Charles I, with the inscription Carolus D.G. IMP. AUST. REX BOH. ETC. ET REX APOST. HUNG. around it. The reverse bears the motto FORTITVDINI, surrounded by a laurel wreath and military banners.
The medal is fitted with the characteristic red and white striped Tapferkeitsband.
