Description
Beautiful and rare Imperial German Pickelhaube front plate for the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, model 1895.
The plate is made of gilt brass, with the richly detailed coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in nickel silver at its center, surrounded by a beautiful laurel wreath and surmounted by a crown. The background consists of a characteristic radiating sun/rayons, which gives the plate a particularly imposing appearance.
The coat of arms is composed of the various historical territories of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, including Mecklenburg, Rostock, Schwerin, Ratzeburg, Stargard, and Werle, with the coat of arms of the County of Schwerin superimposed.
Scarce and hard to find.
In good condition, it does not have mounting screws on the back of the plate.
