Description

Original rare World War II armband (brassard), from the Vichy regime in France (ca. 1940–1944).

The armband is printed with “GARDE AUXILIAIRE”, which refers to an auxiliary police/law enforcement unit active during the Vichy period. This type of armband was worn to identify the wearer as a member of this service.
The armband is stamped with a Reichsadler.

The Garde Auxiliaire was an auxiliary force that assisted the Vichy regime in control and repression, thereby becoming part of the collaboration during the German occupation.
